Serie A attacker update

Following yesterday’s news that AS Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo had agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur this month (read more on that here), Sunday’s edition of Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) has elaborated further on Spurs’ pursuit of the 23-year-old Italian international.

As stated yesterday, the report reiterates that Roma are indeed happy to sell Zaniolo, even for a loan with an obligation to buy in the summer, but would only do so for the guarantee of receiving at least  €30 million, something that Spurs and other interested parties (such as Brighton, West Ham and Leicester) have yet to do.

However, the player’s desire to join Spurs has seen the North Londoners head to the top of the queue for the Italian’s signature.

The relayed report from Gazzetta dello Sport makes the further revelation from Spurs have been in contact with Zaniolo’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli, as of yesterday, and add that Vigorelli will fly into London this upcoming week for additional talks regarding a move for his client to N17.

However, with further doubt cast on Antonio Conte’s future this morning (read more about that here), it remains to be seen how exactly Spurs will approach the remaining 9 days of the transfer window, and the impact of this uncertainty on the pursuit of targets such as Zaniolo.
