Quoted by Sport360, Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld has dropped a significant hint that he will be at the club next season after all.
The Belgian defender has had a fine campaign this year after last summer it looked as though he might well leave.
Indeed, his fitness has been back at a top level this season and he has reminded us all of what a good defender he really is.
Keeping him would be good for next year but, with no contract extension as yet signed, speculation has again grown this summer that he might be on the way out.
However, his latest set of comments suggest that he is of the opinion he’ll still be at the club come the start of the new campaign:
“The only focus is Spurs, because of this focus I think I had a good season as well. I have one year left on my contract, so in my head, I will play for Spurs next season.”
Some promising stuff from the centre-back, then, now let’s get his contract sorted and we can put this all to bed for good.
