It was one of the more surprising transfers of the summer, but Kieran Trippier has got off to a good start to life in Spain with Atletico Madrid.

The England international made the move from Tottenham to the Spanish giants over the transfer window, and the start of the La Liga season this past weekend gave fans the first chance to see Trippier in action for his new side, and the former Burnley fullback made quite an impression.
Trippier assisted the only goal of the game as Atletico won their opening game of the season against Getafe, and some Tottenham fans were pleased to see their former player get off to a positive start for his new team as they took to social media to praise the defender.
Here is what some Spurs supporters had to say on Twitter…
Fair play to him! Always tried didn’t always play well but had his moments.

You know he’s gonna be back to his old self now we sold him

He definitely suits the style of play in Spain. More time on the ball to pick a pass. He didn’t play well under the premier league pressure at the top level.

It was only the last 6 months he struggled, which I put down to a World Cup hangover. Before that his form made him a regular England player and was voted best RB at the World Cup. Said all along was a mistake to sell, was still the best RB at the club.

Trippier looking quality again. Not a surprise. A proper pre seasons rest is all that was needed. Our fanbase are so fickle its unreal #COYS #THFC
