Many thought 20-year-old Sterling would be an option as cover for Harry Kane following his injury, but the youngsters recent involvement sees him head to the Stadium of Light for a taste of League One action.
Having appeared twice for the first team, most recently the FA Cup clash against Crystal Palace, it will undoubtedly be a good test for him as he looks to replicate his goalscoring form for our development squad – five goals in ten games.
