Tottenham confirmed that Anthony Georgiou has joined Atletico Levante UD on loan for the remainder of the season. The 21-year-old has been out-of-favour under Mauricio Pochettino and has made the switch to Spain to get regular playing time.
Georgiou has made just one first-team appearance for Spurs, so he’ll be hoping his situation changes at the Estadi Ciutat de València. With Heung-min Son, Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela ahead of the Cypriot in the pecking order, his future at Tottenham is uncertain.
The left-winger joined the London club from Watford in 2013 and has so far failed to rise through the youth ranks to the first-team. He’s been in the reserve team for a number of years and has now joined a side in the Segunda B – the third-tier of Spanish football.
He’s been overlooked by Mauricio Pochettino for years and is currently playing for a side who are levels below Tottenham, so it’s hard to see his loan move leading to a promotion to the first-team next season. Georgiou could instead be made available for transfer over the summer.
