WSL clash with Leicester postponed

|

Tottenham Hotspur have this evening confirmed that tomorrow’s Women’s Super League encounter against Leicester City has been postponed due to a frozen pitch at Brisbane Road.

The club have stated that the date of the rescheduled fixture will be announced in due course, and that any ticket purchased for the original match tomorrow will be valid for the next incarnation of the encounter, whenever that may be.

Spurs have been in a rotten run of form of late, losing the last five WSL matches in a row, the last of which being against Aston Villa last weekend.

Leicester have struggled all season, but picked up their first points of the season in a victory over Brighton.

Although Spurs would have fancied their chances of ending their dismal form against a side they beat in their opening game of the season with goals from Drew Spence and Ashleigh Neville, the postponement gives head coach Rehanne Skinner more time to work with her players on whatever it is that has gone wrong of late.

Spurs Women will therefore have to wait until Wednesday for their next match, an encounter against Chelsea at Brisbane Road in the Conte Cup. Chelsea will also be Spurs Women’s next WSL opponents in another encounter at Brisbane Road Sunday February 5th.

In between both Chelsea matches will be the FA Cup encounter against London City Lionesses next Sunday (January 29th).

Let’s hope Spurs put the extra time to good use, but in the meantime, have your say on all things Spurs on the Vital Spurs fan forum here.
