After recent speculation linking Sporting CP winger with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, reports have circulated that Spurs have submitted an offer for the Spaniard.
The offer for Porro was reportedly a cash plus player bid, something that Sporting swiftly rejected, as they continuously insist on receiving the full release clause for the player.
The release clause stands at just over £39 million, as has been reported regularly for the past month or so now, and appears to be the primary obstacle to the completion of the deal.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed this around an hour ago, as can be seen below:

So far, the amount of cash and the player in question that Spurs have offered to Sporting here have yet to be identified, so there is no clear way of discerning what the true valuation of Spurs’ bid amounts to.
However, given the fact that Sporting’s response appears to be a blunt finger in the direction of Porro’s release clause, one can assume that it fell somewhat short of their £39 million valuation of the 24-year-0ld Spaniard.
Either way, it seems that Spurs are determined to get their man, so it will be fascinating to see how the irresistible force of Spurs’ interest in Porro meets the immovable object of Sporting’s valuation of him in the coming days.
