Will Spurs Give Life To A Struggling Blades Side – Match Thread

|

Having utterly failed to take advantage of a Fulham side that had to have match sharpness questions hanging over their heads, Tottenham Hotspur’s fixture this Sunday sees us travel to Bramall Lane to face a very struggling Sheffield United side.

With Chris Wilder’s side putting in phenomenal showings last season, the wheels have roundly fallen off the bus and they find themselves in bottom place in the Premier League table, with only one win from 18.

On paper, Spurs’ chances of taking all three points are aided by the fact that they will be reportedly missing seven players and although Wilder hasn’t named them, it could include Enda Stevens, Oli McBurnie, George Baldock and Jack Robinson.

As for ourselves, only Giovani Lo Celso remains out as Steven Bergwijn could come back into contention and of course, Gareth Bale now has more minutes under his belt as well.

As ever though, it comes down to us, our approach to the game and whether or not we can kill them off, or like Fulham, simply play in a manner that gives them a second wind and gets them back into the game.

It’ll take a brave fan to bet on this one as United’s one victory came in their last match, so you can somewhat see the headlines already.

Will we have a few answers or simply more questions?

    Some good posts on here.

Niall, sorry to mention…we didnt score 5 goals v liverpool, it was 6 against man utd. lol.

Jod a good point on the two managers, perhaps Levy will keep jose and have a clear out of players in summer window, like poch did when he arrived, 13 players out the door. However the questions is.if Jose does leave .who does Levy appoint as manager to replace Jose?

Levy’s assistant Donna does keep herself up to date on what fans are saying, and even more so this season, and which she regularly advises Levy, he also knows about fans as they are the lifeblood of THFC, and fans support ENIC in business effectively, in merchandising season tickets, etc..

Levy will no doubt have a meeting with jose and we will have to wait and see what the outcome is. COYS

Another defensive line up with one playmaker (sort of) and one creative player (sort of) on the bench. Looks like the game‘s up for Dele (not even on the bench) and Toby now seems to be in Jose’s bad books. And no excuse for resting players for a big game to come this week. If this team selection doesn’t work I’m joining the ‘Jose out’ brigade here.

  • Geofspurs says:

Stan …. I don’ think it’s a defensive team …. unlike recent games. In fact I think it is a team that has the potential of providing a very healthy win if each player does his job.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

This line-up could well be a very attack-minded one. With the 3 CB’s but two advanced, attacking wing-backs and just Hojbjerg as the holding midfielder, rather than the usual two.

But if we see it more as a 5 at the back? Then I will scream!

I’m inclined to think that we will play more on the front foot today and go for the jugular. It may not be the thrashing that I have optimistically (foolishly?) predicted, if SU firmly (and probably) park the bus… But you never know. They are, after all, desperate for some more points.

    Up the Spurs!

  • Hot Tottingham says:

I didn’t see your post Geof before writing mine… So, I agree with you on that…

  • wentworth says:

Is this the ultimate in bullying from that nasty little man Mourinho who was a failed midfielder himself. No Dele. We had better win with style today.
If we lose, Levy will be getting tetchy.

  • TK says:

Damn, the worst possible start to the match, an early goal by Spurs. Does this mean the most likely outcome is 1 x 1 as we give up a late goal to toss away 2 points. Damnation and hell under JM.

  • TK says:

Seems it’s an off day for JM. The lads not simply sitting back after taking an early goal. I wonder what’s wrong?

  • TK says:

JM has his work cut out at the half to find a way to lose the second half by 2 goals to nil.

  • TK says:

after all, the target is to gain one point and one point only each match.

  • 123spurs says:

And the best possible end to the 1st half.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

The Blades really do need to attack us now if they want at least a point. Which I’m sure they do. And they haven’t sat back anyway… But will we now sit back?

    I bloody well hope not!

I’m gonna stay positive to my 0-5 prediction. But 1-4 will do…. LOL!

    Up the Spurs!

  • TK says:

N’dombele’s goal was spectacular example foot controlling ball. splendid. JM will send him to reserves for this.

  • TK says:

1 -4 would do my quarantined heart a world of healing.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

I can handle Spurs conceding when Tanguy can do that…. Magical!

  • Ossie.. says:

Much better….I actually like this formation

  • Arky says:

And yet another headed goal 🙁

  • Hot Tottingham says:

I miss you posting regularly Ossie…

How are you? I hope you are all well and good. ………………..

    1-3 will do…… 🙂

    Respect to the Blades.

  • wentworth says:

Much better performance. Star showing from N’Dombele lasting the match and scoring a great goal. Ridiculous substitutions on 92 second minute and then 93rd miunute. Vinicius on pitch for 60 seconds, Sanchez on pitch for 30 seconds. Neither touched the ball. Great match practice Jose.
