According to an update from reliable sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Spurs target Thomas Meunier is ‘so close‘ to joining Borussia Dortmund – with Daniel Levy and co now in danger of missing out on the Paris-Saint Germain colossus.
Meunier, despite starting 14 Ligue 1 games for PSG this season, including five in the Champions League, won’t be putting pen-to-paper on a new deal at the Parc des Princes – meaning he is soon to become available as a free agent.
The 28-year-old, who is admired by Jose Mourinho, has also been tipped to succeed Serge Aurier by ex-Spurs shot-stopper Paul Robinson.
However, in ‘typical Spurs’ fashion, it appears that we may have lost the race for his signature – as journalist Romano points out that Dortmund are within touching distance of a deal.
Flocking to the report, some Tottenham fans appear ‘gutted‘ – going on to react over the ‘disappointing‘ update on Twitter.

Typical Spurs. Linked with most players but usually end up not signing anyone ⚽️👎

Disappointing, hopefully we still pursue another RB

That’s a shame
Could have got him and Aaron’s or Ferguson
Sold Aurier and KWP and used that money on Aaron’s or elsewhere in the team— Alex (@alexcoys2020) June 17, 2020
Can’t believe Spurs fans are happy about this when we our only RB is Aurier and we know there’s no spending this window
