Transfer News: Supporters should be delighted as AC Milan readying bid for Tottenham flop

|

Despite Tottenham Hotspur boasting a defensive record that in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons were bettered by no other side, the current state of the club’s defence is nothing short of shambolic. There were positive signs against Liverpool with Japhet Tanganga impressing, but the main issues lie at full-back.

With that being said, we could be set to see a huge boost for the club, as Tottenham might be forced to enter the market for a brand new right-back as AC Milan are looking to make a bid for the Ivory Coast international captain, Serge Aurier.

The news of the Rossoneri preparing a bid for Aurier has come from Alasdair Gold at Football.London, and this can only be good news for Spurs fans given how reckless the defender can be and how many times his costly head losses have been for the club in the past.

In 62 games for the club, Aurier has been sent off twice (Transfermarkt) and given away penalties in notable games against Juventus and Real Madrid in the Champions League and Liverpool in the Premier League, and now the defender could be set to be taken off of the Lilywhites hands.

The report from Alasdair Gold states:

‘The Italian outfit are weighing up a £15m offer for Aurier to add extra competition in the position, along with Andrea Conti and Davide Calabria, for head coach Stefano Pioli.’

‘The main issue for Milan is that they believe they could be priced out of a transfer in this window for Aurier, who had two and a half years remaining on the contract he signed when he joined Spurs from PSG in the summer of 2017, because of the upheaval his departure would cause this month and Tottenham are looking for closer to the £25m they spent on the Ivorian.’

Aurier...

Keep him!

Sell him!

With that in mind, it’s clear that any deal will not be a simple one and this could be a deal that has to wait until the summer transfer window, but the interest is there, and there will certainly be a lot of fans hoping this goes ahead.
