Transfer News: Manchester United looking to prise £40m man from Tottenham this summer

|

This summer is going to be a big one for many clubs, with both Tottenham and Manchester United certain to dip into the transfer market and see what they can do to improve their current squads, and it looks like United could be set to look towards north London for reinforcements.

Spurs fans, we know you won’t like this, but the rumours doing the rounds claim that the Lilywhites will have to fend off interest from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils to keep hold of Harry Winks, who The Mirror have claimed want to sign the Spurs man for a fee of around £40m should Paul Pogba leave.

However, Winks is key to Tottenham and everything they do when he plays, his ability to win the ball, recycle possession and set the tempo for this talented Tottenham team is an incredibly valuable thing, and whilst interest in the top players is inevitable, allowing Winks to leave would be ludicrous.

Is Winks part of Mourinho's strongest eleven?

Yes

No

The article does also claim that Mourinho will not want to see Winks leave the club, and especially not if he would be for the special one’s former club, so if United are serious about wanting Winks it could make for an interesting transfer saga when the summer comes around.

The article states:

‘Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks one of his top summer targets.’

‘The Manchester United manager is looking to reshape his squad in the close season and Winks, 24, is exactly the profile of player he wants to bring in to Old Trafford.’

‘The player’s ability and age fits the bill for Solskjaer as he looks to put together an exciting young team at Old Trafford which could challenge for titles next season.’

‘And Solskjaer has told pals he believes he can build a new-look midfield around the England player.’

‘Paul Pogba is on his way out of Old Trafford at the end of the season and Solskjaer wants Ed Woodward to use some of the money from his sale to test Tottenham’s resolve for the £40million-rated star.’

‘Spurs boss Jose Mourinho won’t want to lose Winks and especially not to his old club.’

‘But that won’t stop United trying to land the player as they continue the reboot that began at the club last summer, and he could be the second central midfielder to join this year following the capture of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon last month.’
