Tottenham will not sell 25-year-old to Barcelona, here’s why – opinion

According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Star), Barcelona have identified Harry Kane as one of many potential long-term replacements for Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan international will turn 32 next month and doesn’t have any genuine player competing with him for a starting place in attack. Aside from Lionel Messi, Munir El Haddadi is the only player to rack up any minutes at centre-forward this season but he’s amassed just 148 minutes in La Liga so far.

As a result, Barcelona are eying one of the best strikers in the world – Kane. The English international has scored 153 goals in 237 appearances in all competitions but only recently signed a contract extension, keeping him with Tottenham until 2024. Despite media outlets not considering Spurs a big enough club for a player of Kane’s ability, it’s clear he disagrees with such a notion and wants to stay in London.

He’s been in fine scoring form this season too, netting 13 goals in 24 games across the board. It’s been more than seven years since Kane made his Tottenham debut and his new deal that was signed in June will make it 13 years since rising from the youth ranks to the first-team.
