We are tracking Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website reports that we are one of three Premier League teams that are interested in the Moroccan international. Liverpool and West Ham are also said to be keen on the 25-year-old.

The midfielder has been in excellent form in the Eredivisie this season having scored nine goals and provided 17 assists in just 34 appearances.

He moved to Ajax in 2016 from FC Twente, and during his first season at the Dutch club, he was just as consistent, scoring 12 and making 20 assists.

Whether he could replicate that sort of creativity in the Premier League, it’s difficult to say. The last playmaker we signed from the Eredivisie side was a certain Dane so it could be worth the gamble.

He generally does play in a similar position to our no.23 though, although he can also play on the left-hand side as well. The Moroccan would likely come in as a squad player if he were to be signed.

  • This sounds promising as we have needed cover, and a selection alternative and rival, for Eriksen, for long enough, as we also do for Kane and Ali.

  • Young enough to be Eriksens understudy but good enough to play in our first team, talented player, i would have him in a heart beat.

  • Sounds good. Have you all realised that should we sign their young 18yr old CB and this player, Ajax are now the top feeder club to Spurs?? (ericsson / sanchez) While ajax reap big profits in fees we pay, spurs get very good quality players for poch to improve.. Main snag could be their willingness to rebuild their team again.. after selling the players.
