Spurs On Alert As Dutch Starlet Signals Intention To Leave His Current Club

|

Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt wants to leave the Dutch club this summer, according to De Telegraaf.

The Dutch newspaper reports that the 18-year-old doesn’t want to stay for another year despite his manager Erik Ten Hag, as well as Ajax officials Edwin van der Sar and Marc Overmars all wanting the player to remain.

It is believed we are among four clubs that are interested in signing the centre-back. Our rivals will be Barcelona, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

No doubt, we will be hoping that Mauricio Pochettino’s track record with young players and the possibility of joining up with former teammate Davinson Sanchez will convince the Dutch international to make the switch to the Premier League.

De Ligt has only been in Ajax’s first team for 18 months but his reputation has quickly grown to make him one of the most sought-after young players in Europe.

The centre-half recently switched to super-agent Mino Raiola, and the club will likely have to deal with the Dutchman if they want to sign the youngster this summer.
