Tottenham reportedly ‘courting’ former Chelsea boss

|

It seems that the Spurs hierarchy might be preparing for life after Antonio Conte (more on that here), with a string of top names being linked with the managerial position at Tottenham.

Names such as Thomas Tuchel (read here) and Mauricio Pochettino (read here) have been circling in the press, but the newest name that has been thrown into the ring is former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

That is according to the Italian publication Il Messaggero, which states that Spurs are one of a few Premier League clubs interested in the Italian’s services – with Everton and West Ham also registering an interest in the 64-year-old.

Sarri however reportedly wants to remain at Lazio for the time being – with his side currently sitting 7th in Serie A, just three points away from the Champions League places.

The Italian is of course is well known to Premier League fans after spending a year in charge of Chelsea during the 18/19 season. Despite not being well fond of by Chelsea supporters, Sarri actually done pretty well at Stamford Bridge winning the Europa League as well as finishing third in the league.

If Sarri was to somehow end up managing in North London, he would be the third ex-Chelsea boss to manage Spurs in the past four years.

I could likely see Sarri facing the same problems that Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have at Spurs, with his stubborn possession-based style not likely to line up with the board’s ambitions, or lack of ambition it seems…

Spurs fans, would you take Sarri at Spurs? Have your say by visiting the VitalSpurs fan forum here
