Tottenham ‘ready’ to sign 23-year-old in a ‘cut-price move’, Aurier will be delighted

|

According to The Sun, Tottenham are ‘ready’ to sign Adrien Rabiot in a ‘cut-price move’, so long as Paris Saint-Germain are successful in signing Idrissa Gueye to be his replacement. It looked as though Spurs would miss out on Rabiot’s signature to Barcelona, but the Liga giants recently agreed a deal to sign Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong so their interest in Rabiot may have waned.

This should delight Serge Aurier. The Spurs right-back played with Rabiot for PSG and France and is good friends with the wantaway midfielder. He recently posted a picture of himself with Rabiot on Instagram, praying for his signing, and it appears he may be getting his wish.

Tottenham have a fervent need to sign a midfielder before the January transfer window closes as Mousa Dembele was sold to Guangzhou R&F and Victor Wanyama has struggled with injury this season. Mauricio Pochettino has also been without Eric Dier for a period, so strengthening his options in the engine room is a smart idea.

With Rabiot’s contract expiring in the summer, PSG are willing to sell the 23-year-old for considerably less than his value. The Parisians don’t want to lose Rabiot for nothing in five months, so Tottenham may be able to capitalise on the situation before the window shuts.
