Opinion: Wide-midfielder could leave Tottenham in January, Spurs want £10m

|

According to the Telegraph, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou will be allowed to leave Tottenham before the January transfer window comes to a close. Spurs are requesting £10m for his signature, but he may not have much interest given his lack of playing time.

The 23-year-old has failed to make an impact since joining Tottenham from Olympique Marseille in 2016, racking up just 500 minutes of football in all competitions. N’Koudou made his first league appearance of the season against Fulham on January 20 but it’s not expected to have a bearing on his future.

Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son are all ahead of the uncapped French winger in the pecking order, so it’s hard to see where he’ll get games at Tottenham. His contract still has two-and-a-half years to run so Spurs aren’t in a rush to sell, but their hopes of recouping the £10m they spent in 2016 might be too ambitious.

N’Koudou spent the second-half of last season on loan at Burnley, but he was handed only 224 minutes of football under Sean Dyche and did nothing to prove his worth in the Premier League. A return to France might be his best move as he isn’t making progress in England.
