“Ndombele replacement”, “Better than Hojbjerg” – Lots of Spurs fans go wild over £20m report

|

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to many players ahead of this summer’s transfer window, most notably Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Max Aarons, who are two names that simply just won’t go away but this week a fresh face as emerged from the shadows, leaving many supporters drooling from the mouth.

According to Football Insider, Spurs have entered the race to clinch Schalke 04 midfielder Weston McKennie with Jose Mourinho reportedly a huge admirer and is keen to land him ahead of their top-flight rivals.

The USA international has make it clear in recent weeks that he desires a move to the Premier League, leading to interest from the likes of Everton and Newcastle United.

Would McKennie be an upgrade to Mourinho's midfield?

Yes!

No!

McKennie has been a frequent presence under former Huddersfield boss David Wagner, featuring 32 times in all competitions where he has averaged 1.6 interceptions, 1.4 tackles, 1.1 shots and 1 dribble per game, via WhoScored.

And evidently, he’s impressed plenty of Spurs supporters.

Some believe he’d be “so much better than Hojbjerg” whilst others claim that the mooted £20m fee would be an absolute “bargain”.

Also given Tanguy Ndombele’s murky season, some reports have linked him with a premature exit, one supporter couldn’t help but feel that McKennie would only be coming through the door to replace the Frenchman.

Here’s the rest of the reaction…
