Tottenham midfielder’s future up in the air as Napoli ‘do not intend to pay’ pre-agreed fee

|

Despite Napoli enjoying one of their best seasons in modern memory, things are not going as swimmingly for Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele who is currently out on loan in Naples.

The Frenchman has featured 24 times for the Serie A league leaders this season but only managed nine starts, mainly playing a bit-part role in Napoli’s record breaking season (via Transfermarkt).

This has led to news emerging that Napoli ‘do not intend’ on paying the pre-agreed fee as part of Ndombele’s loan. That is according to Napoli Magazine (via SportWitness) who state Napoli are ‘waiting for the second part of the season to draw conclusions’, but either way ‘do not intend to pay the €25m’ fee that has been touted.

The club are instead hoping for ‘a discount’ on the player, with the clubs likely to soon met for negotiations.

Spurs will no doubt hope to get every penny they can for Ndombele after shelling out £65 million on the midfielder back in 2019. Also, the fact the Frenchman has went out on two separate loans since Antonio Conte’s arrival at Spurs, likely means the Italian does not see Ndombele in his future plans.

Even though Ndombele is a clearly talented player, he undoubtedly does not have the physical requirements to play in an Antonio Conte system so it would probably be best for both parties if the Frenchman was too leave North London.

Immensely talented, but just fit enough or smart enough to apply himself to the job, what a waste!!

Yet another grim buy that went backwards like Lo Celso, Doherty, Emerson Royal, Sanchez, Sessegnon etc.
