Spurs boss Antonio Conte set to undergo emergency surgery

|

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is set to take sometime away from the managerial limelight as he is set undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder.

Announced via the club’s Twitter this morning, Conte had recently become unwell with severe abdominal pain, later being diagnosed with cholecystitis – a condition in which the gallbladder becomes inflamed.

According to the NHS, most people return to normal activities within 2 weeks after gallbladder surgery – meaning Conte will likely now miss a crucial run of fixtures for Spurs.

The Lilywhites are set to face off against Manchester City and Leicester City in their next two league games as well as facing off against AC Milan in a bumper Champions League last 16 tie.

Managerial duties will now likely fall at the feet of Conte’s right hand man Christian Stellini – with Stellini facing the media a number of times this season, in Conte’s absence.

Conte has had a pretty rough 12 months when it comes to his personal life and this latest news has only compounded that. The Italian has lost two close friends in the space of four months, with Spurs coach Gian Piero Ventrone and ex-teammate Gianluca Vialli both sadly passing away recently.

Everyone here at VitalSpurs wishes Conte the speediest of recoveries!
