Tottenham interested in Frenchman, all-rounder could replace Mousa Dembele

|

According to L’Equipe (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham are interested in Morgan Sanson, with the Frenchman possessing all the attributes to replace Mousa Dembele. Sanson has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Olympique Marseille this season, scoring and creating seven goals.

The 24-year-old has an eye for goal and bags of creativity, but he’s also highly combative and breaks up the play in the middle of the park. Sanson averages a tackle or interception every 19 minutes and boasts a 56% dribble success rate from midfield.

He’s made 88 appearances in all competitions since joining Marseilles from HSC Montpellier in January 2017. The report states he’d cost Tottenham £18m which certainly wouldn’t break the bank, but it’s unknown if the Lilywhites will lodge an official bid next month.

With Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Vincent Wanyama currently injured, Tottenham have a need to sign some cover in the engine room. Sanson is a good all-round midfielder who could improve the squad, but his asking price might be a bit too low considering how highly L’OM rate him.

Nevertheless, Pochettino may have found the answer to Dembele with Sanson and should see if he’s available for a transfer next month.
