Tottenham without two defenders for LASK clash as midfielder and winger return

|

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga will miss Thursday evening’s meeting with Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub (LASK) due to injury. Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela have returned, however, and will be available for selection. A win on the night could see us go top of Group J and in pole position of qualifying.

What’s the latest on Dier?

The 26-year-old picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty with England, causing him to miss our 3-3 draw with West Ham United on Sunday. Dier has made six appearances in all competitions this season, but his last outing came in our 6-1 win over Manchester United on October 4. Football.London say there’s no estimated date when he could return.

What’s the latest on Tanganga?

The 21-year-old has been sidelined for most of the season with a thigh injury and has been ruled out against LASK. Tanganga has made just one appearance in all competitions and it remains to be seen when we’ll see him back. The centre-back featured in our EFL Cup win over Chelsea on September 29 but suffered a setback in his recovery and has been absent ever since.

What’s the latest on Lo Celso?

The 24-year-old had been out of action with a thigh injury, causing him to miss our 1-0 defeat to Everton (September 13), 6-1 win over Manchester United (October 4) and draw with West Ham (October 18), but Lo Celso is expected to feature against LASK.

He’s been training this week and should make the matchday squad, but it remains to be seen what his fitness levels are like.

What’s the latest on Lamela?

The 28-year-old missed our draw with West Ham but has since returned to training and should feature in some capacity against LASK. Lamela has made six appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals, so he could come straight into the starting lineup.

Gareth Bale will obviously be waiting in the wings to make his full debut, but it remains to be seen who Jose Mourinho will give the nod to.
