According to a report from French news outlet Le Phoceen, Spurs and chairman Daniel Levy ‘absolutely want‘ to sign Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson this summer – but they may face a battle from fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal, West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace over his signature.
Sanson, who has started 26 Ligue 1 games for the club this season, is seen as a viable prospect by all four of these top flight sides – with West Ham and Wolves in particular apparently in the race to sign him last season.
Should Spurs sign Sanson?
Yes, get the deal done
No way, not for £31.8m
However, with Palace also monitoring his situation, Spurs have now taken a firm interest according to Le Phoceen – with the Lilywhites and rivals Arsenal having been mentioned as interested ‘several times‘.
Valued at around €35 million (£31.8 million), Levy will have to fork out a hefty sum if he wishes to sign the Frenchman – but this report claims we ‘absolutely‘ wish to make it happen.
Ex-Lilywhites boss Andre Villas-Boas, now in charge at Marseille, has apparently been informed of our desire to sign Sanson – prompting him to snap up Ligue 2 midfield man Papa Gueye earlier this month.
Described as having a ‘very similar‘ style of play to Wolves stars Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho, the 25-year-old has also made 273 career appearances already before even reaching his prime – potentially highlighting the notion he could be worth the £31.8m gamble.
Whether or not we do swoop for the international remains to be seen, however, given Spurs’ financial stance after borrowing £175 million through the Bank of England.
Marseille have been trying to offload Sanson for nearly two years, no takers. Says it all really.
Neves £31million? Are you for real. Wolves wouldn’t entertain a bid less than £110million.
You couldnt make this stuff up… Oh wait… You did
