What a great week for Robbie Keane!

The 25-year-old striker not only secured a new long term deal at Spurs, extending his stay by another four years and hopefully putting a stop to the constant newspaper reports linking him with a White Hart Lane exit, but was also made the new Republic Of Ireland captain by their new boss Steve Staunton.

As if that wasn’t enough, Keane ensured that the entry fee for yesterdays game against Blackburn was more than good value with a sparkling display including one of the best goals you will see this season. Ok, the throw in that led to it should never have been awarded but who is complaining? Well, apart from Mark Hughes and Blackburn fans, who is complaining?! But the goal was a great illustration of just what Keane is capable of.

He weaved in and out, along the touch line, looked to see if there was any support, saw there wasn’t so took it on himself!

Keane has everything you want from a top Premiership player. He is professional, skilful, has strength, grace and vision. What more can you ask?

Keane has surely now earnt a starting place from hereon in? The latest poll asks who you would want to start, Mido or Defoe, giving the option for both with Keane on the bench. I’d be shocked if anyone voted for the latter!

Robbie Keane is only 25, he hasn’t hit his peak yet, he can and I’m sure will become a Spurs legend.

Mido remains our top scorer in the Prem with 11 goals, Keane has 10 and the under-used Defoe has 8. It will be an interesting finish to the season with Defoe desperate for first team action in the lead up to the World Cup. And the competition is fantastic for Spurs and the White Hart Faithful!
