Spurs reportedly make move to sign experienced Barcelona midfielder

Some big names have already been linked with moves to Spurs this summer, particularly after the arrival of Fabio Paratici who is the club’s new Sporting Director.

The likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Raheem Sterling and Lorenzo Insigne have all been linked in one way or another with a summer transfer to North London, but while all those star names are unlikely to be sold on the back of shirts in the Spurs shop next year, one name that might be is Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has struggled to make an impact in Catalonia since his move from Juventus, and with the Spanish giants desperately struggling to clear enough players off their wage budget so they can register their new signings AND keep ahold of Lionel Messi.

Barcelona are even reportedly ready to release the playmaker just to clear his wages off their bill, and Spurs are willing to meet his demands in order to bring him to the club to play under Nuno Espirito Santo.

The former Juventus man would be a quality addition in the midfield department, and could be the missing piece of the puzzle to unlock the limitless potential of record signing Tanguy Ndombele, and lift a lot of pressure off the shoulders of Danish warrior Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Pjanic could also be a persuading factor in keeping Harry Kane at the club, as having a midfield playmaker like the Bosnian creating clear-cut chances is any striker’s dream.

At 31-years-old, he is still also arguably in the prime years of his career and could be a key player in Nuno’s side next season, particularly if he sets up with a 4-3-3 formation which would bring the best out of his playmaking ability.

His leadership qualities and experience would also be invaluable in the centre of the park, as he has been playing at the very top level winning trophies for a number of years now, alongside the world’s best like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala.

Manchester United are also rumoured to be vying for his signature, but Pjanic could be tempted by Spurs where he would have a much bigger role at the club and also the prospect of being reunited with Fabio Paratici, who he worked under during his time in Italy.
