Spurs release slick new home kit for 2021/22 season

Spurs released the 2021/22 home kit yesterday, and the reaction has been very mixed due to the simplistic minimalistic design, completely opposite to the leaked third kit which again has had a mixed reaction due to the wild and colourful design.

In contrast, the home kit is a basic white shirt with just the logo and Nike tick in blue and the AIA logo centre in red, with sleeve sponsors Cinch and their logo in blue on the left sleeve.

Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a big fan of the new kit, labelling it “simplicity at it’s finest.”

Meanwhile, Heung-Min Son, Japhet Tanganga and in-demand striker Harry Kane all appeared in the launch video and posters for the new home shirt, leading to fans hoping that it is a sign that the England captain will stay for at least another season.

Following the club failing to win a trophy again and also failing to qualify for the Champions League next season, Kane is reportedly wanting to leave the club in search for trophies, just like his ex teammate Kyle Walker did when he left for Man City, and now Kieran Trippier has just won a Spanish La Liga title too, the striker looks set to leave the club this summer.

Son’s future has also been questioned this season, but the official Spurs Twitter account tweeted a video of the Korean modelling the new kit with the caption ‘ready for 21/22’.

The goalkeeper home kit was also released with France captain Hugo Lloris modelling it, but eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out the kit seems to be the exact same colour and design as a recent Liverpool goalkeeper kit, which Alisson has previously warn for the Reds.

While the designs of both look clean and sleek, it’s safe to say Nike have disappointed with their lack of innovation and creativity to design more unique kits for the club.

However, should the leaked third kit be released by the club, then their lack of adventurous designs could be redeemed for, as then both sets of fans who either like the minimalistic look or prefer the creativity and colours.

Spurs fans will also be hoping that Daniel Levy can negotiate with AIA to let the club make the logo blue instead of red for the home kits in future.
