Leicester 2-4 Tottenham: Player Ratings

|

Spurs signed off the season by ending Leicester’s hopes of securing Champions League football and ensuring that the North London club would take part in European football themselves, as well as finishing ahead of arch-rivals Arsenal.

Harry Kane and an own-goal from Kasper Schmeichel cancelled out Jamie Vardy’s penalties, before a late double from Gareth Bale secured the victory on Ryan Mason’s final game in charge. Here are our player ratings.

Hugo Lloris – 7

Not at fault for either of the Leicester goals which were both penalties. Made a good save from Marc Albrighton in the first half, but ultimately another clean sheet for him was stripped away by poor defensive mistakes.

Matt Doherty – 7

One of his best performances for Spurs as he constantly caused problems down the right flank and gave youngster Luke Thomas issues all game.

Toby Alderweireld – 5

Poor challenge and lack of communication between him and Sanchez for the first penalty, and no communication again for the second. Needs to step-up next season and be a leader if he is to retain his place in the starting line-up.

Davinson Sanchez – 6

All the makings of a solid player but again lapses of concentration let him down once more. Apart from the two penalties, made some fantastic recovery challenges and his presence in the box caused Schmeichel to miscue his punch and deflect the ball into his own net for the second equaliser.

Sergio Reguilon – 6

A lot better after his poor performance last time out against Villa which included a horror own-goal , but his inconsistency is becoming an issue. Provided an effective option out wide on the left and linked up well with his teammates.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7

Grew into the game and made a number of challenges to win the ball back and get the team going on the front foot. Very vocal and lead the team in the middle of the park when Leicester were searching for a winner at 2-2.

Harry Winks – 6

Had some good touches and bursts of energy to get the team up the pitch, but made a few dreadful passes in the opposition’s half which if they were slightly better, would have created chances for the team.

Steven Bergwijn – 5

Wasn’t really in the game and was defended well against by the Leicester back-line. Failed to build on his midweek goal but will be pleased to get another start under his belt ahead of a huge next season at the club.

Dele Alli – 6

Played one of the passes of the season to Son in the first half which would have brought the team level before Kane’s equaliser. Did the dirty work but drifted in and out of the game too often.

Heung-Min Son – 6

Failed to cause the Leicester defence issues except from his set-pieces, which should have been defended against better. Quiet performance from a player who usually has a lot more to offer.

Harry Kane – 8

Another player who grew into the game, particularly after his well-taken equaliser which he volleyed home emphatically despite the ball landing slightly behind him. Hopefully not his last game in a Spurs shirt, but if it was, he signed off in style by securing the golden boot.

SUBS: Gareth Bale – 9, Lucas Moura – 5, Joe Rodon – N/A

Game changer Bale came off the bench to open up the pitch and make it wider, giving Soyuncu nightmares. He only needed two phases of play to show he is a class above in talent, and both his goals he made look incredibly easy up against competent defenders. Lucas struggled to test the tiring Foxes and Rodon almost had a nightmare start to the game when he almost slipped in his own half while in possession, but he recovered to prevent any danger.
