Spurs Man Marks His Comeback In Great Style With Inter Milan MotM

|

Having returned to fitness earlier than expected, Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Jan Vertonghen announced his return to our backline in some fashion as we faced off against Inter Milan last night in the latest Champions League encounter.

Having not played since the Huddersfield victory back at the end of September, the 31-year-old Belgian didn’t make a single tackle against our Italian opposition according to Whoscored but with some revenge in the air, that’s not to say he didn’t play his part in our 1-0 victory as Christian Eriksen broke the deadlock ten minutes from the fulltime whistle to leave our European hopes alive and kicking.

Taking their star man rating of 7.67, he narrowly beat Harry Kane into second place with 7.60 and our top five performers on the evening were completed by Harry Winks (7.51), Ben Davies (7.42) and Dele Alli (7.34).

Good to see Davies poll well again, and we had others with a 7+ rating on the day as Eriksen’s 21-minute cameo took 7.32, often maligned Moussa Sissoko took 7.27, Serge Aurier 7.24 and Hugo Lloris and Toby Alderweireld were tied on 7.18 leaving Lucas Moura’s second half showing as a substitute to take 7.13.

A good night all around and the perfect way to build on the Chelsea victory as Inter failed to get a single player rated at 7+ and that shows we deserved the win even if the scoreline was narrow.

Now, onto the next one.
