According to the Daily Star, Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt has rejected the chance to sign for Manchester United in what could be seen as a boost for Spurs.
The Lilywhites have been linked with the brilliant young defender for some time with the Standard reporting last year that we were interested in securing his services.
With Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld not getting any young, and the latter’s future remaining uncertain, it would be worth us looking for a new defender in the summer window.
And, that said, de Ligt is just about the best young defender in the game at the moment with him, of course, part of the Ajax side that is proving so brilliant, unfortunately for us, at the moment.
Certainly, though, these sides eventually get broken up and if we could even snap up one of them, de Ligt would not be a bad start at all in the middle of defence.
