Spurs eye up Swedish winger

|

According to French outlet Jeunes Footeux (via Caught Offside), Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in 24-year-old winger Jesper Karlsson of AZ Alkmaar, who is also being pursued by fellow Premier League sides Manchester United, Brighton and Fulham.

A compatriot of Sweden’s Dejan Kulusevski, Karlsson has been registering respectable numbers in the Eredivisie. Last season, he scored 21 goals in all competitions and registered 16 assists in all competitions, and so far this season, he has scored 4 times and contributed 3 assists to his side across all competitions this season.

Karlsson has 4 goals and 3 assists across all competitions this season and he was outstanding for AZ Alkmaar last season. The 24-year-old managed to score 21 goals and pick up 16 assists across all competitions last year.

Karlsson has helped AZ Alkmaar to second after 17 matches in the Eredivisie so far this season, and his side are only two points off table-topping Feyenoord after a 3-1 league victory over Fortuna Sittard today, in which the Swede started, but did not get in on the goalscoring act:

The fact that AZ are focused on breaking up the PSV/Ajax monopoly makes it likely that they would want to lose one of their star men halfway through a season, and although Spurs have been in the market for a wide-forward this month, it seems more likely that they would pursue Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo if the latest reports are to be believed – read about that here.
