League One loan for versatile youngster

|

Tottenham Hotspur have this evening confirmed that young and versatile midfielder Harvey White has left the club to join Paul Warne’s Derby County in League One on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been a regular name in Antonio Conte’s matchday squads in various competitions this seasons, and even made his Premier League debut shortly after the advent of the new year, coming off the bench in the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on January 4th.

This is White’s second successive loan spell in League One, having also seen out the end of last season on loan at Danny Cowley’s Portsmouth.

This may well prove a source of frustration to some Spurs fans, who had either hoped that White would break into the first-team this season (a camp which I must say I’m not in at all), or, failing that, that he would secure a more ‘prestigious’ loan spell to a Championship club as a step up from another League One loan spell.

The latter was not beyond the realm of possibility, as talk had emerged of Mick McCarthy’s Blackpool registering in interest in White’s services on loan, along with several unnamed Championship sides, but the higher powers have decided White’s best chances of regular first-team football and thus, overall development, will arrive under Warne’s promotion hopefuls at Pride Park, so in such instances, we must bow down to higher knowledge and wish him all the best.
