Spurs Appeal One Of The Two Bournemouth Red Cards But I Can’t See It Being Overturned

|

It was being reported yesterday that Tottenham Hotspur had now decided to appeal the straight red card shown to Son Heung-Min in last Saturday’s penultimate Premier League clash with Bournemouth.

The South Korean was given some harsh treatment in the first half of the game, and he uncharacteristically reacted to Jefferson Lerma’s ‘punch’ and gave him a shove – Lerma went down like he’d taken a right hook from Mike Tyson.

Sky Sports reported yesterday afternoon that with an appeal deadline of 1pm on Tuesday, the club had now sent in the paperwork arguing that in the circumstances the straight red card and resultant three game ban was excessive.

I’m guessing the appeal against violent conduct hinges on the fact he pushed him in the chest and argument could be made Lerma went down like hands were raised to the face, but I’d actually be amazed if this appeal turned out to be successful.
