With most eyes on Wednesday’s Champions League Semi-Final second leg against Dutch side Ajax, the rumour mill continues to give Tottenham Hotspur fans plenty to think about and speculation linking us with a move for Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo just won’t go away.
I’m pretty sure this is standard rumour mill fare as the reports get subtly stronger each time they resurface in the media, but Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) are now claiming that Spurs are a ‘concrete pretender’ for the 19-year-old.
With fantastic form earlier in the season, the player has reportedly tailed off in recent times as Roma now look likely to miss out on the Champions League for next season and if they do miss out, the expectation is they’ll have to sell a few players to help them balance the books.
The outlet claim that we have already tabled a 55million Euro offer for the player and given the significant uplift that would give them in terms of profit, it seems that could tempt them into doing a deal.
Still seems to be a rumour driven by the transfer fee for me as it would be out of character to go in that high.
