“Sell him at top dollar”: Ex-Tottenham star implores Levy to consider huge move

|

Speaking to Football Insider, ex-Tottenham striker Darren Bent has stated that the best time to sell star forward Harry Kane may be right now – imploring the club, and by extension Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, to take advantage of a potentially huge price tag.

Bent, who made 79 appearances for us after signing from London rivals Charlton Athletic for £16.5 million in the summer of 2007, eventually going on to score 25 goals in all competitions, now speaks on all things Tottenham in a punditry role.

Explaining his latest opinion on striker Kane in an interview with Football Insider, Bent has claimed that we shouldn’t be entirely opposed to selling our arguable best asset going forward – going on to insist that the Englishman’s market price could be at it’s peak right now.

Should Spurs sell Kane in his prime?

Yes

No

This comes after Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claimed that Real Madrid are willing to go all out for the 26-year-old this summer as current Galacticos hitman Karim Benzema approaches the twilight stages of his career.

Since bursting on the scene through our academy, Kane has gone on to score 181 goals for the club in all competitions as well as providing 30 assists according to Transfermarkt.

Despite his ambition to become a club legend, Bent thinks it could be high time to sell the player for a huge market price – citing the opinion that we may not get another chance to sell for big money in future.

“When you sell Harry Kane, you want to sell him at his absolute peak, and his peak is right now,” explained Bent.

“So for me, if you’re going to sell him, you’ve got to sell him in the next couple of years, and that’s when you’re going to get the most money for him.

“Harry Kane has already said himself that if Spurs haven’t progressed at the rate he wants them to then he’s not scared of leaving. It doesn’t surprise me. You want to go and play for one of the giants in Europe.

“But if you are going to sell him, make sure you sell him at top dollar, and that could be £150-200 million.”

Indeed, our former target man may have a point in his verdict here, especially when you consider that Kane, while still in his prime, isn’t getting any younger – the best time to sell, if not right now, could definitely be on the horizon.
