Sarri, Parker and Conte the new front-runners for the Spurs job

|

Daniel Levy has been in intense negotiations and meetings over the last couple of weeks as he begins to narrow down his shortlist for the vacant managerial role at Spurs.

The candidates now appear to have been shortened down to three front-runners for the job, Maurizio Sarri, Scott Parker and Antonio Conte, three men who also happen to have connections with rivals Chelsea.

But, Levy will be confident he can get any one of the trio to drop their ties with the blue side of London, and come to Spurs to give their all in order for the club to be successful and win trophies.

Sarri, who was most recently at Juventus following his departure from Chelsea, is currently unemployed and would cost no extra compensation costs, and would be a perfect candidate if Levy wants an attacking manager similar to Mauricio Pochettino who sets up his team in the way that the team presses, how high the full-backs maraud up the pitch and how high the defensive line is.

Fulham manager Parker still has good relationships at Spurs, reportedly including with Levy, and he also remains an option especially after his very attractive style of play which has caused nearly every single team in the league issues, despite them looking destined for relegation.

Finally, Antonio Conte seems like the most unlikely option, but dreamers can dream as the Spurs hierarchy have already made initial contact after the Italian has just led Inter Milan to their first Serie A title since 2010, but although Conte is believed to be potentially interested in the challenge at Spurs, the probability remains minimal.

Meanwhile, it is not yet clear whether or not Ryan Mason will be in the running for the job full-time, but should the team’s form continue in the right direction, he could potentially become a more serious candidate, however that seems unlikely.

The most likely option right now seems like it would be Sarri, with no compensation required and a desirable style of coaching for the club, but Parker could definitely be in the running to as Levy is also reportedly wanting the next manager to be younger and English.

We would prefer to see Sarri in the role out of those two, however, as it seems like the most likely route back to free-flowing attacking football which our fans are craving as well as trophies.

If it really is down to this three I’d take Scott Parker all day long. Sarri like Mourinho is a boring defensive coach who won’t go down well with the fans. Conti I like but can only imagine his volatility would become an issue with Levy, I think Scott Parker could do well with the right back up he loks to play solid attacking football which totally fits the Spurs way of doing things on the pitch.
