Ryan Sessegnon hoping Scott Parker will be named new Spurs manager

|

Spurs left-wing back Ryan Sessegnon has admitted he is hopeful that Daniel Levy appoints Fulham boss Scott Parker as the new manager following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.

The England U21 international has been playing on-loan at Hoffenheim in Germany after finding himself out of favour under the former Spurs manager, despite still just being 20-year-old and looking like one of the most exciting prospects in the country.

Now, there could be an opportunity for Sessegnon to revive his career at Spurs and stake a claim for a first team place next season, particularly if Parker is named as the new manager.

“That would be very good!” said Sessegnon, admitting to Talk Sport on if the links between Parker and the current vacant managerial job at Spurs came to fruition.

“Everyone knows the relationship I have with Scott. He’s a top guy, top man and a top coach. He’s just an all-round great guy.

“I played with him in his last season I think in professional football and my first. He’s someone that has obviously always believed in me as well.”

Despite where the Cottagers sit in the table, Parker has got Fulham playing some very attractive football, and they perhaps should feel unlucky to be in the position that they are.

“They have got fantastic results against some of the big teams where other teams wouldn’t have thought they would get those type of points,” said Sessegnon.

“Scott has got them playing the right type of football; that’s what I admire about him.

“He obviously has a philosophy of play and sticks to it and all the players are buying into that. Recently, it hasn’t been so good for them in terms of results, but I think the performances and effort is still there.

“I hope they still get out of the situation they are in and stay up, of course. It’s a club that is very close to me and I hope that they do it.”

Sessegnon also admitted that his career at Spurs has been far from how he expected it to go, particularly even after scoring against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on his first start for the club.

“In some ways, I haven’t even really got going at Spurs,” said the former Fulham winger. “It’s been stop-start since I’ve been there.

“I got there and Pochettino was there. I just came back from injury and then he got sacked and Mourinho came in and then I got sent on loan. It’s been hectic and stop and start. It’s a fresh start for me to go back and show what I can do.”

Parker is currently on a three-man shortlist for the job with Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri the other two managers who are potential candidates.
