Report: Tottenham want to sell ‘unsettled’ 26-year-old and have identified a replacement

|

According to Adrian Kajumba of the Daily Mail, Tottenham want to sell Serge Aurier in January and have identified a replacement for the ‘unsettled’ defender – Norwich City’s Max Aarons and West Bromwich Albion’s Nathan Ferguson are said to be on Spurs’ radar if Aurier leaves.

The 26-year-old is one of many unwanted Tottenham players who are expected to be sold over the summer, but clubs didn’t make a formal bid for Aurier – AC Milan, AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain were linked with the Ivorian international without a deal materialising.

Despite being unwanted by Mauricio Pochettino, Aurier has been first-choice at right-back in recent weeks, racking up six appearances in all competitions. He’s started in Spurs’ last two Champions League games and four of their previous five league outings.

The Daily Mail still believe Tottenham are open to offers for Aurier in the coming weeks, however, which makes Pochettino’s decision to include him all the more baffling. Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth are available but find themselves low down the pecking order.

Aurier impressed in Tuesday’s Champions League win over FK Crvena Zvezda and iis likely to keep his place against Liverpool on Sunday.
