Report: Tottenham tipped to sign £70m midfielder, could cost £1.6m in wages

|

According to Le 10 Sport, Tottenham are interested in Tanguy Ndombele and could meet his asking price to bring the Olympique Lyonnais midfielder to London. Ndombele has been linked with Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain and has a £70m asking price.

According to Statista, the average salary at Lyon is £1.58m-a-year/£30k-per-week. Ndombele is a regular at Parc OL, but he was signed from French minnows SC Amiens so it’s unlikely he’s earning a lot more than the mean salary. Tottenham will likely have to pay £70m and around £1.6m in wages.

Ndombele isn’t cheap, but he could improve the squad based on his attributes. The 22-year-old has made 31 Ligue 1 appearances this season, racking up 2423 minutes of playing time.

He’s made six assists, averaged 58 passes-per-game with 89% accuracy, won 30 aerial duels, created 42 chances, made 10 clearances, blocked 30 shots/passes/crosses, made 52 successful dribbles (72%) and has averaged a tackle (58) or interception (25) every 29 minutes.

But while Spurs are in desperate need for a central midfielder, it remains to be seen if the Lilywhites are willing to meet the lofty asking price. Ndombele looks a good composed, ball-winning midfielder with the ability to drive with possession from deep, but his valuation might scare off Tottenham.
