Team News: Tottenham without five players to face Bournemouth, duo to return

|

Tottenham will be without five players for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth – Jan Vertonghen (head), Serge Aurier (hamstring), Harry Kane (ankle), Erik Lamela (hamstring) and Harry Winks (groin). Spurs will welcome back Heung-min Son from suspension and Vincent Janssen who was ineligible against Ajax on Tuesday.

Aurier is nearing a return, with Tottenham revealing the right-back is in the final stages of conditioning. He’s been out of action since for more than a month, last featuring against Borussia Dortmund in the last-16 of the Champions League on March 3. Kieran Trippier is likely to start at right-back in his stead.

Kane is still undergoing rehabilitation on his ankle, but the club are keeping their cards close to their chest about the likelihood of his returning to face Ajax on Wednesday. Vertonghen is another player who could be doubtful. He’s having assessments on his head injury and looks unlikely to feature. Winks is still recovering following groin surgery while Lamela is doing rehabilitation.

Tottenham are currently third in the Premier League with 70 points from 36 games this season, coming off the back of three wins from five. Victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s men on Saturday could see them seal a Champions League spot. A draw may well be enough if results go their way.
