Report: Tottenham star who flourished under Pochettino admits ‘shock’ following surprise sacking

|

Harry Kane has admitted that he visited Mauricio Pochettino’s house the day after the Argentine manager was surprisingly sacked as manager of Tottenham.

Speaking to The Independent, the Tottenham star confessed that he met his former manager at his home the following day the news was announced that Pochettino was sacked after a poor start to the season, and that the news was a ‘shock’ to everyone around the club.

Is Mourinho The Right Man?

Hell No

The news was one of the most surprising stories of the season so far as Pochettino last campaign guided Tottenham to a Champions League final in incredible style as well as asserting the north London club as a force in the Premier League after consecutive years finishing in the top-four.

Kane said about his meet up with Pochettino: “I’ve been to see him. I went round his house and caught up with him the next day. It was a shock for everyone, so I wanted to go and see him and we had a chat for a couple of hours and it was nice to do that before the new manager came in.”

The news of Pochettino’s sacking was surprising, to say the least, but it is a warming fact to know that some members of this Tottenham squad still care about their former manager who took the club to new and unimaginable heights.

Although supporters and players have been very quick to move on from Pochettino to Jose Mourinho, it is still easy to forget just how much the Argentine manager did for the club in the five-and-a-half years he was at Tottenham for.

Spurs wouldn’t be where they are now had it not been for Pochettino, who laid the groundwork down for the likes of Kane to flourish at the club, who scored 169 goals in 242 games under the Argentine as stats from Transfermarkt show.
