Report: Tottenham eye summer swoop for 82-capped 32 goal hitman valued at £100m by club

Tottenham are reportedly interested in Wolves hitman Raul Jimenez ahead of the summer transfer window.

ESPN report that the 82-capped Mexico international is on Spurs’ radar with Jose Mourinho eager to bolster the north London club’s attacking options in the summer, with Goal reporting that Harry Kane could leave Tottenham should the club embark on another rebuilding job.

Jimenez has gone from strength-to-strength with Wolves since signing on a permanent deal last summer, with the former Benfica man being involved in 32 goals (22 goals and 10 assists) already this season for the West Midlands club in all competitions, and as a result, Nuno Espirito Santo will likely demand a huge fee for the Mexican superstar.

Is Jose Mourinho good enough to be Tottenham manager?

Yes

No

The Sun reported in January via Sports Mole that Manchester United were quoted £100m for Jimenez, a fee almost double what Tottenham paid for record signing Tanguy Ndombele in the summer transfer window, yet with the potential risk of Kane leaving the club in the summer, Spurs will need a big-money player to come in and replace the England captain.

And Jimenez could be an ideal replacement for the Tottenham number 10, with the Mexican striker hitting 15+ goals in his first two seasons in England and filling the aggressive, target man role that Mourinho often favours in a 4-2-3-1 formation, yet that price tag Wolves have set as well as how recent the 28-year-old striker signed a four-year deal with the club.

Spurs’ will likely have one of their biggest transfer windows in recent years this summer with Mourinho expected to go big on new signings, and if Kane is to depart the club in search of a new challenge, Jimenez could be the ideal replacement for the Tottenham academy graduate with the Wolves man settling to life in the Premier League extremely well in the past two seasons.
