Report: Spurs player that has played 23 minutes of league football is ‘most likely’ to leave

|

Tottenham are reportedly ready to sell Victor Wanyama in the January transfer window and that the club the view the Kenyan as the player ‘most likely’ to move on in the winter.

According to Football Insider, the club have decided to move on the 28-year-old defensive midfielder following from a summer transfer window where Wanyama came close to joining Club Brugge, however, as reported by The Evening Standard, the deal fell through due to personal reasons from the Tottenham player.

Since declining a move to Belgium, Wanyama has seen very little first-team action with Tottenham this season, with stats from Transfermarkt showing that the former Southampton midfielder has only managed 23 minutes of league football.

The club-record signing of Tanguy Ndombele this summer has seen Wanyama fall greatly down the midfield pecking order at Tottenham, and the emergence of 19-year-old Olivier Skipp has only pushed the Kenyan further.

Is Tanguy Ndombele our best midfielder?

Yes!

No!

Wanyama is likely going to be one of many Tottenham players who could depart the club this January in what is likely going to be a massive transfer window for the north London side.

As well as the 28-year-old midfielder, the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Christian Eriksen, and Jan Vertonghen all have their current deals with the club expiring next summer, meaning interest in the out-of-contract trio will seemingly ramp up when the New Year rolls around.

Inter Milan have been rumoured with a move for both Eriksen and Vertonghen as reported by The Guardian and The Express respectively, and it will be interesting to see where Wanyama finds himself in January, with Celtic being linked with the Kenyan international as well since the summer transfer window according to The Daily Mail.
