Report: Spurs ‘actively attempting’ to ship 22 y/o prospect out to reduce this growing problem

|

Tottenham are reportedly ‘actively attempting’ to flog Juan Foyth this month following the arrival of Gedson Fernandes to meet strict Champions League squad restrictions.

According to Football FanCast, the 22-year-old defender could be the odd player out for Spurs when it comes to registering their squad for the next stage of the Champions League, with clubs competing in the European competition only allowed to have 17 non-locally trained players in their squad.

The signing of Fernandes earlier this week see’s Tottenham’s number of non-locally trained players increase to 18, and Foyth could be the player to receive the cut when registration for the next phase of the competition opens come the end of the January transfer window, which has opened the possibility of the defender moving on.

Will Tottenham be active in the January window?

Yes! We have to be!

No! Daniel Levy won't spend

The Argentine youngster has hardly featured for Spurs this season after starting the campaign on the injury table, yet since returning to full fitness Foyth has found first-team football hard to come by, with stats from Transfermarkt showing that the versatile defender has only played 262 minutes, making seven appearances in all competitions.

With the report stating that Real Betis are interested in Foyth this month, a deal could well be in the works in the background to take the 11-cap Argentine international to Spain this transfer window, a move which could benefit all parties involved.

Foyth has shown plenty of promise during his three years at Tottenham, yet with Jose Mourinho not a fan of the youngster and instead opting to promote Japhet Tanganga into the first-team over the South American, it seems like the former Estudiantes centre-back could be off from north London this month.
