|

Tottenham Hotspur’s first match in nearly 4 weeks since the 4-3 win over Leeds saw Antonio Conte’s mean comfortably dismantle Scottish Premier League side Motherwell by four goals to nil behind closed-doors at the club’s training ground Hotspur Way.

Despite many first-team stars either in Qatar for the World Cup or on extended leave following their countries’ recent exits from the tournament, Antonio Conte still managed to name a strong side against the Scottish outfit, with Dejan Kukusevski, Bryan Gil, Davinson Sanchez, Matt Doherty and Yves Bissouma among the starters.

There were also starts for the less-seen quartet of Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga, Djed Spence, and Harvey White, all of whom impressed in the friendly.

Indeed, it did not take Spurs long to take the lead, with Kulsevski firing Spurs into the lead just after 2 minutes after picking up a loose ball in the box.

Spurs doubled their lead shortly before the half-hour mark through Doherty when Kulusevski and Gil combined, with the latter playing in the Irishman to slot home a right-footed finish for Spurs’ second.

Spurs ensured that they would enter half-time with a three-goal cushion when Gil, who was denied a goal earlier by a wonderful save from Motherwell keeper Liam Kelly, converted from a close-range Kulusevski cutback.

Kulusevski would turn provider again and Doherty goalscorer again when the Irishman headed in the Sweden international’s corner on 71 minutes to round off a perfect afternoon for Spurs and Antonio Conte.
