Recent Spurs Transfer Claim Is Never Going To Happen – “Not In A Million Years” “Bit Late For April Fool’s”

|

Tottenham Hotspur fans are well aware of the ongoing rumour mill speculation linking centre-half Toby Alderweireld with a move to Manchester United next summer, but over the weekend one outlet got quite inventive and claimed (without substance) that Arsenal were preparing a summer swoop for the 30-year-old.

With the £25million release fee included in his 12 month extension, it has been a stick to beat Spurs with given no new deal in its own right has yet been agreed with the Belgian, but the report from the Sun is absolute nonsense.

It claims everything and states absolutely nothing, as it even leaves fresh terms as something potentially on the table, so in basic it’s just a recap of the current state of play (that everyone is aware of) wrapped up with the Arsenal link to presumably give it fresh credence and justify it as a ‘new’ story.

Given Arsenal’s state of play in the Premier League table, it would only be a sidestep move at best for Toby and given all his comments I doubt very much he’d cross that divide and ruin his status with us, when available at that price, there are better suitors in terms of potential silverware and definitely on a pay front.

The suggestion received an understandable response from fans on social media.
