Predicted: Mauricio Pochettino could make 8 changes for Tottenham’s clash with Southampton

|

Ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Southampton, Mauricio Pochettino could make eight changes to his Tottenham side after Tuesday’s EFL Cup defeat to Colchester United.

Paulo Gazzaniga is likely to make way for Hugo Lloris in goal, Danny Rose should replace Ben Davies at left-back, Serge Aurier could get the nod over Kyle Walker-Peters at right-back while Jan Vertonghen & Toby Alderweireld might edge out Eric Dier & Davinson Sanchez at centre-back.

In midfield, Victor Wanyama & Dele Alli could drop out for Tanguy Ndombele & Harry Winks respectively. Ahead of the duo, Heung-min Son, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela should start in an attacking trio. Harry Kane will return up front at the expense of Lucas Moura.

Tottenham are currently seventh in the Premier League with eight points from six games, having picked up just one win in their last five. In September alone, Spurs have conceded two or more goals in three games and can’t afford to fall short again.

The Lilywhites could find themselves closer to the relegation zone than the top-four if results go against them this weekend, so Pochettino has to get his squad right for Saturday.
