“Perfect Move For Him” – Former Spurs Striker Sees The Sense In This Piece Of Transfer Speculation

|

With it being no secret that Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho will likely be on the hunt for a back up striker in the January transfer window, one of the latest suggestions is that Spurs have already sent scouts to watch former Manchester City, and now Roma attacker, Edin Dzeko.

The claim came a few days back from The Mirror and it seemed to be typical transfer rumour mill fodder, but with Dzeko being no secret to some rotation from his time in England previously, as he looks to turn 34-years-old, it is a fair shout in many ways as he looks to extend his playing career and maybe take one last crack at the Premier League.

Whether anything comes of this is open to debate given his regular action at Roma and the fact he signed a two year extension over the summer, but with our accepted back up being Troy Parrott, somebody like Dzeko would tick the box and help keep the pressure off the 17-year-old as his game time presumably grows in the second half of the year.

Former striker Darren Bent seems to see the positives in striking a deal, if one can be done.

“I think he’d be a good signing. He’d be a very good signing, he was great at Man City as his goals to game ratio was crazy and up there with the very best. So you’d have to say for Spurs, he’d be the perfect foil for Harry Kane as they would allow Kane to get some rest. He knows the Premier League, he has scored goals in the Premier League for Manchester City and he’ll understand that Harry Kane is the best striker in the world and that he’ll have to play second fiddle. He played second fiddle at Man City, behind Aguero, Negredo, they kind of alternate. So I think him going to Spurs, would be perfect, as it’d be the perfect move for him.”

Would Dzeko Make Sense In January?
