Opinion: Tottenham could sign £31m Ligue 1 forward in January

|

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Nabil Fekir and are not giving up on the prospect of bringing the Olympique Lyonnais forward to the Premier League in January. He’s valued by CIES at a very affordable £31m, but Lyon might not let him go cheaply as he remains a key player.

With Liverpool overstocked with attacking options (Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge) they may not pursue Fekir again unless an existing player leaves. That gives Tottenham a chance to resolve their attacking problem if they make a bid.

Harry Kane has been recently ruled out until March with a ligament injury and Heung-min Son is currently away on international duty for a number of weeks. Mauricio Pochettino may be forced to start Fernando Llorente in attack, but he should also use the transfer window to strengthen.

Fekir would improve the squad and quickly push for a starting place. The 25-year-old has scored and created eight goals in 11 Ligue 1 starts this season. He contributed 26 goals in 28 league starts in 2017/18 and is somewhat picking up where he left off with Lyon.

Pochettino loves versatile forwards who can be moved around the pitch. Fekir is that man, but will Tottenham make a move?
