Opinion: Three goal midfield target is an ideal fit for Spurs

|

According to Spanish outlet as, Spurs are closing in on the loan signing of Dani Ceballos, after a conversation between the 22-year-old and Mauricio Pochettino assured him he would get plenty of game time.

While AC Milan are also interested in securing his services on a temporary basis, as detailed in the report, they don’t have European football for the 2019/20 campaign, which makes North London the Spaniard’s likely destination.

He is an ideal fit for Tottenham, which makes the option to buy clause, which has been reported by football.london, a very exciting prospect for Spurs fans.

Ceballos got three La Liga goals and didn’t register an assist last season, but having been given just 13 starts and 10 substitute appearances this isn’t too bad a record.

His performances in the U21 Euros – which his Spain side won – give a great indication of what he could be capable of.

He mostly played as the main attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1, where he was able to dictate his team’s attacking play – creating chances for he and his team mates.

Ceballos’ greatest performance of the tournament came in a 5-0 win against Poland, where he got a goal from a superb free kick, an assist and topped it off with a 10 rating on WhoScored.

The idea of the 22-year-old linking up with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min should be incredibly exciting for Spurs fans – as it could be very effective.

It seems as though Tottenham are in the driving seat for this deal, with Real Madrid likely wanting it completed quickly, as they need to balance the books.

Having already bought in Tanguy Ndombele to improve the midfield, Spurs could now be getting Ceballos to join him – if this happens it will be a great piece of business from the club.
