Opinion: This is the game where we should see the first glimpses of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham

|

When Tottenham face Bayern Munich tonight, the Lilywhites likely won’t be set to see a full-strength side at The Allianz Arena, as Jose Mourinho will be desperate to keep his players fit and firing despite the increased fixture congestion over the festive period.

With that being said, this game will not be a chance to see what Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham are really about. It seems strange to think we’re yet to see the touches that Mourinho has put on Spurs in his five games so far, but his lack of time on the training ground with the players means he won’t have been able to have his say.

The tactical system has changed at the club since Jose took charge and Mauricio Pochettino was sacked, yet that doesn’t mean this is a Mourinho side in all it’s glory, even if they’re lining up with a completely different setup.

With that in mind, and remembering that against Bayern Munich today the result has no bearing on the Lilywhites’ progression in the Champions League, this game is also not going to be a chance to see a true Mourinho team. However, against Wolves this weekend, we might see what this side can do.

With players like Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen, Serge Aurier and Dele Alli being rested, the four of those should be in a great place to take on Wolves on Sunday, and the extra time they’ll get on the training ground could make a huge difference.

Could Mourinho and Bale deliver Tottenham a Premier League title?

Yes

No

We’re not expecting to see a finely tuned, perfectly drilled Mourinho side to marshal Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on Sunday and record an impressive 2-0 or 3-0 win, but we might start to see the little changed details that Jose will be keen to make on the playing style for the club, and it’ll certainly be something to look out for.
